The Democratic Republic of Congo has today, announced the end of the country’s challenge with Ebola Epidemic.
The World Health Organization said the latest outbreak killed 55 people out of 119 confirmed and 11 probable cases since it began in June.
Health Minister Eteni Longondo told journalists: “I am happy to solemnly declare the end of the 11th epidemic of the Ebola virus in Equateur province” in the vast country’s northwest.
He also said the outbreak was “the longest, most complex and deadliest” in the 60-year history of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It has only been surpassed by the 2013-16 Ebola epidemic in West Africa that killed 11,300 people.
