Two Nigeria-eligible teenagers – Maximillian Oyedele and Shola Shoretire are currently in the Manchester United squad for a training camp in Spain ahead of English Premier League resumption after the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup.
While Oyedele is a central midfielder, Shoretire is a striker.
Former Ajax manager, Erik ten Hag has already taken to the Andalusian Province, where the squad will be based for one week.
Born in Manchester to a Polish mom and Nigerian father, Oyedele who joined the Red Devils in July 2021, has made 20 appearances for the U18’s since joining the Premier League side.
This season, he has featured in six games, scored one goal and created one assist.
Oyedele, who signed his professional contract with the Red Devils in the summer, also trained with League Two club Doncaster Rovers in October.
Unlike Oyedele, Shoretire is expected to be an integral part of the traveling squad.
The Nigerian descent made his debut for United on February 21, 2021, as an 88th-minute substitute for Marcus Rashford in a 3–1 home league win over Newcastle United.
As part of their preparations for the Premier League restart, United will face La Liga sides Cadiz and Real Betis in friendly matches on December 7 and December 10 respectively.
