Former Inter Milan and Blackburn forward, Hakan Sukur is now working as an Uber driver in America after being exiled from his home country Turkey.
The eight-time Super Lig winner with Galatasaray, wrote himself into the history books by netting the fastest ever goal at a World Cup, in 2002.
His strike, scored after just 10.8 seconds helped Turkey to a third-place finish at the finals in South Korea.
Despite recording 51 goals in 112 appearances at international level, the former footballer was forced to flee his homeland after a warrant was issued for his arrest by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Sukur has been speaking to German outlet, Welt am Sonntag, about his new life in America.
He said: “I moved to the United States, initially running a cafe in California, but strange people kept coming into the bar.
“Now I drive for Uber and I sell books.”
The arrest warrant was distributed by Erdogan in 2017 after the Turkish President charged Sukur with being a member of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organisation (FETO).
Also known as the Gulen Movement, the group is deemed terrorist in Pakistan, Turkey and Northern Cyprus.
FETO are believed to be the perpetrators behind a failed coup in Turkey in 2016.
