Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Buba Marwa, has disclosed that he sought for permission to conduct drug tests as part of the screening process for candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidential election.
Marwa made this call while he spoke at an award event for NDLEA officers in Abuja on Wednesday afternoon, adding that he hopes other political parties will also participate in the exercise.
While it is not clear how the NDLEA boss plans to carry out the exercise, his proposal comes at a time when drug abuse and trafficking is on the high in Nigeria, with some cases linked to Government officials.
