As the 2022 Qatar World Cup draws closer, the World soccer ruling body FIFA is already considering awarding the 2030 World Cup to three countries as a co-host.
Three countries thousands of miles apart – Egypt, Greece and Saudi Arabia are planning to table their joint bid to FIFA with the hope that it will come to acceptance.
Placed on three different continents, these countries are seriously considering competing with the two “tickets” already envisaged by Spain and Portugal on one hand, and Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay on the other.
The four countries had launched a joint bid to host the mundial.
The four South American nations hope to bring the tournament “home” for the centenary edition, 100 years after the inaugural World Cup was hosted, and won, by Uruguay.
The three other countries are working hard and the file for the organisation of the 2030 World Cup is under consideration.
And to make the commitment that Egypt would be one of the best organising countries in the history of the event.
However, nothing is official at this stage, no application has yet been submitted to FIFA,” Saudi Arabia’s Spokesman for ministry of youth and sports told DMC television.
Canada, Mexico and the United States will host the 2026 World Cup.
