The Sokoto State Government has distributed the sum of Twenty-one Million Naira to 87 districts for the purchase of sacrificial cows for 5,500 orphans.
Each of the districts was given N200,000 for the cow and N20,000 for its transportation.
The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, presented the amount to District Heads for onward distribution to the end beneficiaries in Sokoto on Sunday.
While flagging off the exercise, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, appreciated the state government for sustaining the gesture despite its dwindling resources.
According to him, this would give the orphans a sense of belonging, he also urged the district heads to ensure fairness in discharging this responsibility.
