Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has been handed a two-match ban following his red card in Napoli’s 2-0 victory over promoted Venezia at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday, The Heritage Times reports.
The 23-year-old was sent off in the 23rd minute after shoving Venezia defender Daan Heymans while they tussled on a corner.
The incident which has been described as voluntarily striking an opposition player in an official statement, also accompanies a fine of €5,000.
As a result, the former Wolfsburg striker will now miss Serie A games against Genoa and Juventus.
He scored 10 goals in 24 league appearances for Napoli last season following his arrival from Ligue 1 club Lille.
Recall that prior to their Serie A opener, the Super Eagles striker was in an impressive form during pre-season, scoring a brace in their 3-0 win over Bayern Munich and grabbed Napoli’s only goal in a 1-0 victory over Serie C club Pro Vercelli.
