Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel has reacted to reports linking Romelu Lukaku with a possible return to the West London club this summer.
The Blues are currently in search of a new striker and having seen their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland hit rock bottom, have turned attention to Lukaku.
Asked about the Belgium international following Wednesday’s pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur, Tuchel lavished praise on the former Chelsea forward.
However, the Blues manager refused to be drawn on suggestions that his side were in talks with Inter over a deal which could be worth in excess of £100m to the Italian champions.
“I won’t talk about players who are not in my squad. Romelu Lukaku is a fantastic player, he is not in my squad, he is in Inter. Everyone wants to join my squad. I can imagine a lot of players want to come and join,” Goal journalist Nizaar Kinsella quotes Tuchel as saying.
The 28-year-old has scored 64 goals in 95 appearances for Inter since joining the Serie A giants from Manchester United in August 2019.
During his previous spell at Chelsea between 2011 and 2014, the Belgian failed to find the back of the net in 15 appearances, before he joined Everton on a permanent deal following a successful loan spell.
