No fewer than two persons are feared dead following an attack on two generation banks in Iree, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun by suspected armed robbers.
An eye witness told newsmen that the robbers arrived at the two banks, in the same location at 3:50 p.m. and operated for about 30 minutes before carting away an unspecified amount.
Heritage Times gathered that a police officer attached to one of the banks was killed.
Meanwhile, the Spokesperson, Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola has confirmed the incident but could not give the exact number of persons killed.
The spokesperson said the suspected armed robbers abandoned their operation vehicles at the scene, adding that full details would be provided on the incident later.

Bank robberies are on a frightening rise in the South West region of Nigeria, with no fewer than four robberies reported in 2021.
In March 2021, a group of armed robbers attacked a commercial bank in Okuku at Osun State, killing no fewer than two people.
Months later, armed robbers attacked First Bank in Ikire and Access Bank in Apomu areas of Osun state killing about seven people.
In July, three persons were confirmed dead and many persons wounded after a bank robbery at Ilara- Mokin, Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.
With the latest attack, no fewer than 14 people have lost their lives to bank robbery incidents in South West Nigeria this year!
