AS Roma may turn attention to Super Eagles and Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho if a deal to bring Tammy Abraham does not pull through, according to multiple reports.
Abraham has struggled to earn regular playing time at Chelsea since Thomas Tuchel took rein of the west London club.
And while the England international has emerged as a top target for Premier League clubs in recent weeks, he’s been touted as a possible replacement for Inter Milan bound Edin Dzeko.
The Giallorossi’s Director of Football, Tiago Pinto held a meeting with Abraham and his entourage in London on Wednesday.
Pinto presented to the young striker the benefits of coming to the Stadio Olimpico.
According to reports, Chelsea have already agreed the terms of the transfer at €40m, to be paid in five instalments, but the forward remains tempted by Arsenal.
Sky Sports reports that Roma will look to sign Iheanacho from Leicester City if Abraham does not give the all-clear on Friday (today).
The Nigerian international recently penned a contract extension to June 2024 with the Foxes.
He notched up 19 goals and provided seven assists in 39 appearances across all competition for Brendan Rodgers’ side last season – helping them to the FA Cup win.
Last week, the 24-year-old scored from the penalty spot to hand Leicester City a decisive 1-0 victory over Manchester City to lift the Community Shield title.
