Nine-time African champions Super Falcons of Nigeria will trade tackle with the US Women National Team in a double-header friendly in September, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.
Both teams will clash at the Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
Both sides are presently competing in their respective continental tournaments, and will play the matches on Sept. 3 and Sept. 6.
The four-time World champions have already qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, becoming the first team from the CONCACAF region.
Meanwhile, the Super Falcons are billed to face Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the ongoing WAFCON later on Thursday in Casablanca.
A victory against the West African rivals will see Nigeria qualify for the 2023 Women’s World Cup for a record nine time.
Nigeria started their continental campaign on a slow note with the Super Falcons losing 2-1 in their opening match against South Africa, but went on to beat Botswana and Burundi in the remaining matches to reach the quarterfinal.
Four slots have been reserved for Africa ahead of the 2023 World Cup with Zambia and Morocco securing the first two tickets following their WAFCON quarterfinal triumph on Wednesday.
