Sberbank, a Russian lender, announced on Monday that it has entered the competition for artificial intelligence chatbots with the launching of GigaChat, a rival to ChatGPT, initially in an invite-only testing mode.
The launch of ChatGPT, a chatbot from Microsoft-backed firm OpenAI, last year has sparked a rush in the technology industry to make AI more accessible to people. The goal is to change the way people work and gain clients as a result.
According to Sberbank, what distinguishes GigaChat from other international neural networks is its capacity to converse more intelligently in Russian.
As Western nations have reduced exports to Russia and implemented severe sanctions over Moscow’s activities in Ukraine, Russia’s leading bank has made significant investments in technology in recent years in an effort to lessen the nation’s reliance on imports.
