Days after losing a UFC middleweight title bout, Nigerian-born New Zealander Israel Adesanya has arrived Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.
This was disclosed by the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) via its social media handles.
According to videos and pictures shared by NiDCOM, Adesanya touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport to a rousing reception.
Another video footage posted by NiDCOM’s authority on X showed that Adesanya was accompanied by his parents who are Nigerians.
A short text by NiDCOM reads, “Earlier today, Nigerian-born, New Zealand Professional Kickboxer, Israel Mobolaji Temitayo Odunayo Oluwafemi Owolabi Adesanya (#stylebender) arrived Lagos today (Wednesday), accompanied by his parents and warmly received by the Nigerians successful Diaspora Commission.”
Israel Adesanya’s instrumentality to his ancestral location comes after his fourth-round submission non-accomplishment to South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis during their middleweight rubric showdown UFC 305 on Saturday night, August 17, 2024.
The 35-year-old Lagos-born Mixed Martial Artist has lost four fights between 2021 to 2024.
Before things turned this atrocious for the “Last Stylebender”, he enjoyed one of the longest winning runs in the past of the UFC as he recorded 20 consecutive wins from 2012 to 2020.
