The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has re-opened bids for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF formally stripped Guinea of the rights to host AFCON 2025 on Saturday.
CAF in a statement via its website on Monday October 3, 2022 said, “The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) Executive Committee (“EXCO”) met on Saturday 1 October 2022 in Algiers, Algeria and announced the re-opening of bids for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025.”
In the same manner CAF, sent message of good wishes to countries that qualified to represent the continent at the 2022 World Cup, saying, “CAF wishes Senegal, Tunisia, Ghana, Morocco and Cameroon all of the best in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.”
Cote d’ voire will host the next edition of the AFCON in 2023.
The rights withdrawal followed a meeting on Friday in Conakry between Guinea’s interim president, Col. Mamady Doumbouya, and CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
Immediate past president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick once stated that the country would be willing to co-host AFCON 2025 with next door neighbour, Benin Republic.
Morocco and Algeria are among the countries that intend to present candidacy for the organization of the African Cup of Nations.
