Head Coach Jose Peseiro has invited 27 players for the Super Eagles AFCON 2023 qualifier against Sierra Leone, with team Captain Ahmed Musa making a return to the squad.
Musa, 29, who plays in the Turkish Super Lig for Fatih Karagumruk, was among the high profile players left out of the Eagles trip to United States –where they played two friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador to help them prepare for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
Other notable names making their way back to the team are Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal and Leicester City’s Ademola Lookman.
Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho and goalkeeper Maduka Okoye were overlooked as the former Braga coach continue to keep faith in his home based players.
Peseiro will hope to lead the Super Eagles to their first victory under his reign after back-to-back loses in his first two games in charge.
The three-time African champions will slug it out with the Lone Stars at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on June 9.
