Swiss-born goalkeeper, Sebastian Osigwe has been handed a call up to the Super Eagles ahead of next month’s double header AFCON qualification clash against Sierra Leone.
The 26-year-old FC Lugano shot stopper who plies his trade in the Switzerland’s top division will battle it out with Maduka Okoye and Daniel Akpeyi for the starter’s shirt.
Recall that the last time Daniel Akpeyi got an invitation to the team was in the game against Lesotho on November 17, 2019.
The Veteran goalkeeper has no doubt shown brilliance for his South African club, Kaizer Chiefs. But much can not be said about his performance for the Super Eagles.
The duo of Oghenekaro Etebo and Joe Aribo also made a return to the fold after they both suffered a knock which kept them out of the friendly games against Algeria and Tunisia. Meanwhile, Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu are being left out due to injuries.
Also making a return are in form Napoli’s front man, Victor Osimhen and Club Brugge’s target man, Dennis Bonaventure who recently banged another Champions League goal for his club in a 2 –1 win over Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.
The new boys; Zaidu Sanusi, Frank Onyeka, Kevin Akpoguma and Ejuke have been rewarded with a call up following their impressive displays in the friendlies.
