Nigeria’s only representative Enyimba and other three Quarter-finalists in the ongoing African Football League (AFL) will be $1million richer despite failing to progress in the competition.
The Nigerian club couldn’t enter the semi-final stage after losing 4-0 aggregate to Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.
The staggering amount is the participation fee for the inaugural edition of the competition.
Enyimba suffered an agonising 3-0 defeat to Morocco’s Wydad Athletic in the second leg of their quarter-final clash at the Stade Mohamed V, Casablanca.
They had earlier lost 0-1 at home inside Godswill Akpabio stadium Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
Enyimba also suffered an early exit from this year’s CAF Champions League following a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya.
The Nigerian side will now concentrate on the defence of their Nigeria Premier Football League title which they won last season.
