Ghana’s Senior National team B, Black Galaxies and their Nigerian counterparts will on Sunday August 28, 2022 trade tackles during the first leg of the African Nations Championship qualifying series scheduled for Cape Coast.
The delegation of Super Eagles team B, comprising of only players playing for their various clubs at home arrived in the Ghanaian coastal city on Friday.
Nigeria’s Head Coach Salisu Yusuf is at the head of a contingent that includes 22 players, who will prosecute the home-and-away games against the Galaxies.
The Nigerian team and their officials travelled aboard Asky Airline flight from Abuja and landed in Accra after a stop-over in Lome, before a road trip to Cape Coast.
Nigeria and Ghana clash at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday evening in the first leg of a final qualifying fixture for a spot at the 7th Championship also known as CHAN, which will be staged in Algeria early 2023.
Coach Salisu is in Cape Coast with a total of 22 players, including three goalkeepers, eight defenders, six midfielders and five forwards.
Before their departure via Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, he told Heritage Times HT that his boys have been instructed to play to full strength and explore Ghanaians’ weaknesses in a bid to triumph.
“We are aware that when it comes to preparations and period of training, our opponents have advantage but my team is equally ready to give it all. At the end, the ultimate goal is to pick the available ticket to 2023 CHAN,” he said.
The home-based Ghana national team had suffered a 2-1 loss to 2022 FIFA World Cup hosts, Qatar in an international friendly en route to the CHAN qualifier.
After the first leg match, both teams will tango in the second leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja in one week time.
