The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reportedly approached Egypt to host the 2025 U20 AFCON.
This followed the sudden withdrawal of Côte d’Ivoire from staging the biennial tournament.
Egypt hosted the 2023 edition of the competition.
The 2025 U20 AFCON is billed to kick off on 26 April, but with the sudden withdrawal of Côte d’Ivoire as hosts, the tournament may now be delayed to allow Egypt to step in.
Nigeria, as one of the teams that will feature in the tournament, has been drawn in Group B with Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa.
The top four teams in this competition will represent Africa at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, scheduled for October.
