The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has once again excluded Nigerian referees from the list of match officials for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Notably, Nigeria’s team, commonly known as the Golden Eaglets, failed to qualify for the tournament after an early exit from the WAFU B regional competition.
With the team out, hopes had shifted to Nigerian referees making the officiating list. However, CAF did not consider any Nigerian officials.
The list, announced on Friday, includes 17 referees, 18 assistant referees, 10 Video Assistant Referees (VAR), five assessors, six instructors, five CAF staff members, and three IT support and VAR technicians.
The tournament is set to take place in Morocco.
Nigeria has won the competition multiple times, both at continental and global levels.
