Golf star Tiger Woods is now gradually heading to retirement as he continues to suffer with the injuries he sustained on his right leg.
The 15-time Major champion made a fairytale return to golf at The Masters in April 2022, just 14 months on from his horror car crash that almost cost him his right leg.
Woods went on to play both the PGA Championship and The 150th Open, withdrawing at Southern Hills after after posting his worst score in the event on the Saturday and failing to make the cut at St Andrews.
Ahead of the Hero World Challenge, which he is hosting in the Bahamas this week, the 46-year-old seemed to suggest he did not have much longer left in him, according to Dailymail.
He said, “The goal is to play the majors and maybe one or two more. Physically, that’s all I can do. I don’t have much left in this leg.
“‘I can hit whatever shot you want, I just can’t walk.”
‘I’ve had a few setbacks throughout the year, that I was somehow still able to play through. But this one, I just can’t. Only time can heal this one.’
Woods was set to make his first appearance since his likely final stroll around the Old Course in July at the Hero World Challenge this week but withdrew after suffering with plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
Woods has refused offers to use a golf cart during competitive rounds and reiterated that he never would on the PGA Tour – but would at The PNC Championship and The Champions Tour.
He added that he even voted against Casey Martin getting access to a cart as he believes it in an integral part of championship golf.
The 20-man event this week was set to be the first event of ‘Tiger Season,’ with the 15-time Major championship participating in three events in December – the Hero World Challenge, followed by The Match and the PNC Championship. Woods said he still intends to compete in the latter two events.
Woods will play in the PNC Championship, a 20-team event for winners of majors or The Players Championship and a child or parent, for the third time with his 13-year-old son Charlie.
