Nigeria now trail Algeria in the latest FIFA ranking released by the World football governing body on November 28, 2024.
In the ranking announced via FIFA website, Nigeria previously fourth in Africa, currently occupies fifth position while Algeria are placed number four with Morocco, Senegal, Egypt maintaining first, second and third positions.
After Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia and South Africa complete the top 10 places respectively in Africa.
Globally, Nigeria dropped eight places after a shocking loss to Rwanda, with a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic.
The three-time African champions, who were previously ranked 36th, now occupy 44th position.
