Few hours after WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury offered a title shot to British Boxer with Nigerian Heritage Anthony Joshua, the London Olympics Gold Medalist has accepted the challenge.
The 32-year-old like Fury, also took to his Twitter handle to inform the Gypsy King of his readiness to duel by December, only if his opponent is serious and discusses with his management.
The mischievous Gypsy King had teased AJ by posting on social media: “I’d like to give you an opportunity to fight for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world.”
And the Watford hero tweeted in reply: “Yeah calm. I don’t do the online discussions just for clout, so if you’re really about it, shout. I’ll be ready in December.”
Joshua resisted the temptation for a back and forth with Fury, stating he does not engage in online discussion to avoid clout chasing.
This is not the first time both boxers will be working on fighting each other.
Both boxers were so close to fighting in 2021 with an already announced date in August and venue in Saudi Arabia.
But Fury was forced by an Arbitration Judge in America to face then opponent, Deontay Wilder, in their third contest in Las Vegas on 9th of October 2021.
All eyes will be on Fury to see how he reacts, especially as it is only few months to December of 2022.
Meanwhile, there are other factors that may thwart this highly anticipated duel.
The both boxers are signed to different American TV rights holders and that alone may hinder negotiations.
Joshua is signed to DAZN, while Fury is signed to rivals ESPN. This means negotiations must be an arduous task for the both managers of the fighters in the days ahead.
