Former England Manager Sam Allardyce has made a shocking return to football, two years after leaving the scene.
According to Mail Online, Allardyce will officially take over as Leeds United coach, following Javi Garcia departure after just two months.
Though the club is yet to confirm the latest development, on Tuesday it said it has parted ways with sporting director Victor Orta.
Daunting Task But…
Allardyce return means he will be at dugout for Leeds against Manchester City, the club currently topping English Premier League table, after overtaking Arsenal last weekend.
He will take charge of the Whites with only four games remaining of the Premier League season.
The club will face a daunting trip to Premier League leaders Man City on Saturday, before hosting Champions League chasing Newcastle.
The Whites will conclude the season with an away trip to West Ham and a home match against Tottenham.
Leeds are only outside of the Premier League relegation zone on goal difference having earned just one point from their past five games, conceding 18 goals in the process.
Allardyce Past Records
As also captured by Mail, Allardyce has been out of work since failing to beat the drop as West Brom boss in 2021.
The 68-year-old is one of the most experienced coaches in the game having held managerial and coaching positions at 13 different clubs throughout his career.
The Englishman had helped multiple clubs including Crystal Palace, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland to avoid relegation.
