The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday reached a resolution to send a delegation of its members to the United Kingdom following the detention of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice.
The duo are facing trial over allegation bordering on attempted organ harvesting of a minor, David Nwamini Ukpo who was flown from Nigeria.
Ukpo according to Immigration record is 21 years old and not 15 as he claimed.
They are currently being detained in custody to appear at the Uxbridge Magistrate Court in West London on July 7.
But in what appears to be an effort to amicably resolve the issues, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan announced the decision after senators were briefed behind closed doors on the matter by the Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafadeen Ishola.
Lawan further disclosed that the delegation would comprise of members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs led by its Chairman, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa.
He said they would leave Nigeria within the next 48 hours to UK.
Lawan assured the family that the National Assembly as an institution would ensure they get justice at these trying times.
