Nigeria’s sprint star and World record holder in the women’s 100m Hurdles Tobi Amusan, has reached the final of the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary.
This is after she came through to win Heat 2 of the semi-final in a time of 12.56s to overturn Ackera Nugent’s early lead.
Serial Finalist, Other Contenders
With the final qualification, Amusan has now reached her third successive final.
Title contenders Kendra Harrison, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and Nia Ali posted a time of 12.33s, 12.41s, and 12.49s respectively.
Harrison who has proven to be the athlete to beat in the final, posted a world leading time of 12.24 seconds during the heats.
Olympic Champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn had the second fastest time in the semi-final,.
World Record Star
Last year at the Oregon 2021 Championships, Amusan held the world spell-bound with her stunning performance of 12.12 world record run in the semi-final.
She did 12.06 wind assisted in the final.
She has had troubles ahead of Budapest 2023 and was lucky to be in the contest after being cleared of whereabouts violations.
The women’s 100m Hurdles final will hold on Thursday, 8:22pm Nigerian time.
