Nigerian Wrestlers have continued to stand tall at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games with an improved performance on day nine of the competition in Birmingham.
It was sensation Mercy Genesis who beat the odds and defeated her Canadian opponent Madison Parks in the final of Women’s freestyle 50kg to emerge winner.
Her Compatriot eventually lost the final but secured a silver medal in the Men’s freestyle 57kg.
Still in Wrestling, Ogbonna John won Bronze medal in the Men’s Freestyle 74kg event.
He defeated Charlie Bowling of England.
In boxing, Cynthia Ogunsemilore won a bronze medal for Nigeria in the Women’s Over 57kg-60kg Lightweight category after a 5-0 semifinal loss to Any Sara Broadhurst of Northern Ireland.
In Table Tennis, Faith Obazuaye won the first medal for Nigeria after a 3-1 victory over Felicity Pickard of England. That was precisely in the Women’s Para Table Tennis Classes 6-10 event at the Games.
