Arsenal on Thursday night suffered a 2-0 loss to West Ham United at The Emirates in one of the Premier League matches.
Goals from Tomas Soucek and Konstantinos Mavropanos were enough for a 2-0 win to prevent Arsenal from regaining top spot.
But Arsenal had 77 touches in the West Ham box – more than any other team failing to score in the Premier League since records began in 2008.
The result leaves Mikel Arteta’s Gunners second in the table, two points behind league leaders Liverpool, while West Ham end the year with 33 points – their highest total at the halfway stage in a Premier League campaign.es
For David Moyes, the win ends an incredible run of 73 away games as a manager against Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool without a single victory.
West Ham’s results in December have been a festive treat with Moyes’ side backing up an impressive win over Manchester United with this stunning result at the Emirates.
West Ham now sit sixth in the table, well in the mix for European qualification, following four wins, one draw and one defeat in the league this month.
Despite losing England midfielder Rice in the summer, who lined up for Arsenal against his former club for the first time, West Ham have shown maturity and growth in the first part of the campaign and have been rewarded with their highest points tally.
Tottenham Surrender To Brighton
Earlier, Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-4 to spirited Brighton side that netted their fourth goal after 63 minutes of action.
They however pulled two back but both proved to be only consolation goals on the night.
Tottenham remain one point outside of the top four following the defeat, while Brighton climbed a place into eighth.
