The death has been announced of boxing legend George Foreman.
He passed away at the age of 76.
Confirming his demise on Friday night, his family wrote via Foreman’s Instagram page: “Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman St., who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.”
The statement also requested “privacy as we honour the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.”
Foreman, a two-time world heavyweight champion, also won Olympic gold in 1968.
He fought in two of the most iconic bouts of all time but lost only five fights during his career before retiring in 1997.
In 1971, he took on Joe Frazier in ‘The Fight of the Century’, and three years later, he faced Muhammad Ali in ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’.
