Armed bandits have invaded Sokoto State, killing two persons and abducting over 100 commuters in two separate attacks, Heritage Times has learnt.
It was gathered that the armed men invaded some major roads in the state, including the Sokoto-Gusau road where, at least, 60 road users were whisked away to an unknown destination on Sunday.
The bandits also blocked the Wurno-Goronyo road, where two persons were killed and an unspecified number of others were also abducted.
The General Manager of the Sokoto Mass Transit, Yahuza Abubakar Chika, who raised the alarm on Sunday night, said one of their buses conveying passengers was also affected.
“The driver of the bus and one other passenger escaped unhurt, but the rest of the passengers were whisked into the bush by the bandits,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, is yet to release a statement on this incident.
