Real Madrid may have won Barcelona in the El Classico, but the 13-time European champions lost their place at the top of Forbes latest list of most valuable football clubs in the world to the Camp Nou giants, as reported by Daily Mail.
Ronald Koeman’s men moved marginally ahead of second placed Madrid at £3.46billion.
Los Blancos won the La Liga title last summer at the expense of the Catalans, who recently announced losses of £83.5m for last season and debts that had more than doubled to £420m.
Premier League club Manchester United became the highest ranked English team ahead of Liverpool, who jumped up three places to fifth and sixth placed Manchester City.
Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea are England’s next most valuable club at £2.33billion while Stan Kroenke’s Arsenal are just behind the Blues in eighth place, rated at just over £2billion.
Tottenham, owned by Daniel Levy, squeezed themselves to the top ten at £1.67billion – just behind Paris Saint-Germain.
