Barcelona on Sunday night triumphed City rivals Espanyol 4-2 to win 27th La Liga title with 14 points gab over second-place Real Madrid.
Immediately the referee signalled the end of the match, the visitors quickly rushed off the pitch in celebration.
Barcelona Season Record
With the crucial victory, Barca moved to 85 points from 34 matches.
Meaning, Barcelona have won 27 of their 34 games this season, with their title charge built largely on their outstanding defence, which has conceded a measly 13 goals, by far the best defensive record in Europe’s top five leagues.
At home, their defensive numbers are even more impressive with only two goals conceded, one from a penalty and the other an own goal.
They are the second highest scorers in the division, having bagged 64 goals, with La Liga’s leading marksman this season Lewandowski netting 21, four more than Real’s Karim Benzema.
Barcelona will move out of their Nou Camp home next season while the stadium is redeveloped.
But fans will get a chance to celebrate the club’s first major trophy since 2020-21 during their last two home games against Real Sociedad on Saturday and Mallorca on May 28.
Sunday celebration by Barca fans at Espanyol triggered clash between the two clubs which snowballed to uncontrollable crisis.
Espanyol Near Relegation
The latest defeat has pushed Espanyol closer to a second relegation in four seasons from La Liga after a ninth league defeat in 11 games.
They are four points from safety with four matches left.
