Nigeria’s D’ Tigers have beat group leaders, Cote D’Ivoire, to raise their hope of qualifying for 2023 FIBA World Cup.
In beating fellow West African side 72-63, Nigeria ended their seven-game winning streak.
Though, Cote d’ivoire have already qualified.
The Nigerian men basketball team had 10 points before.
The latest victory moved them from fourth to third position on the log, with Ivory Coast and Angola occupying the first and second positions.
In the second round, the top three teams from each group are placed in a group with three other top teams.
Group A will be paired with Group C and Group B with Group D. All results from the first qualification round, are carried over to the second round.
The matches in each window will be played in a single venue.
In other matches already played, Cameroon beat DR Congo 85-56, South Sudan defeated Senegal 83-75, while Cape Verde overcame Guinea 78-70.
It was Tunisia 67-71 Egypt, Angola beat Uganda 82-49 in the other qualifiers.
