Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has been named man of match in Rangers Scottish Cup victory at the Hampden Park on Saturday.
After posting a solid performance in the Europa League final, the Nigerian international was in action again for his club as they emerge champions for the first time in 13 years, following a 2-0 victory over Hearts.
Bassey described the feeling as “unbelievable” and thanked God for the win while he also appreciated his teammates for standing through the rigours of two painstaking games.
“Everyone’s worked so hard this season. We’ve tried to push every game and have played two extra times this week. It’s so hard but it just shows what kind of drive we have and how desperate we are to win something,” Bassey said.
”We are tired. We are shattered but we just have to keep going and show resilience and keep pushing on.”
He described the cup triumph as a confidence booster ahead of next season as they hope to try harder and work better to achieve better results.
Recall that his stellar performance had earned him a spot in the Europa League team of the season and a call up to the national team ahead of Nigeria’s friendly against Mexico and Ecuador next month.
