President Cyril Ramaphosa will address international investors in Beijing, China, during his visit to attend the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation Summit.
In a series of engagements over the past few days, he met with Chinese companies to encourage greater investment in South Africa, highlighting the country’s ongoing economic reforms and opportunities for foreign businesses.
During his address to the business community in Shenzhen, Ramaphosa expressed his appreciation for the Chinese businesses that have already invested in South Africa, noting their significant role in enhancing the country’s energy infrastructure.
He urged more companies to expand their investments, particularly in the energy and electricity sectors, which have been a focal point of South Africa’s economic reforms.
“We are grateful that a number of your companies have been playing a role in improving our energy system in South Africa. We want to encourage your companies to do much more in South Africa. One of the key areas in which we have focused on reforms is our energy and electricity sector,” Ramaphosa stated.
Also, he emphasized that the cooperation between Beijing and Pretoria has been significantly strengthened, with trade positioned as a central pillar of relations between the two countries.
Heritage Times HT notes that Ramaphosa’s visit highlights South Africa’s commitment to deepening economic ties with China and attracting international investment to spur growth and development.
By engaging directly with Chinese business leaders, President Ramaphosa aimed to reinforce South Africa’s position as a favorable destination for investment and to build on the existing economic partnership between the two nations.
