Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has approved the new minimum wage for Civil servants in the state and has subsequently directed the State Head of Service to immediately commence the implementation of the N30,000 upgrade to government staff from grade levels one to six.
The Governor gave this directive in a statement made available by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase on Tuesday, also appreciated the labour union leaders for their understanding.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to the implementation of the agreement and assured Benue workers that his administration will continue to give priority to their welfare and address other challenges of development in the state.
Recall that Ortom on Monday alleged threat to his life from his counterpart in Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed. The duo have been at loggerheads and taken different stands on the farmer/herder crisis rocking parts of the country.
