Report late Sunday June 4, 2023 emerged that Karim Benzema will in a matter of days join Saudi Arabia club Al Ittihad.
Saudi Move
This is after the French international reportedly reached an agreement to sign him on a two-year deal, according to Saudi state-run Al Ekhbariya television station.
He will join his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at the Arab nation as a free agent after Real Madrid said earlier in the day that the 35-year-old would leave the LaLiga club after 14 trophy-laden years.
Al Ekhbariya said Al Ittihad’s chairman and vice chairman were in Madrid to hammer out a “record deal” with Benzema.
Another End Of An Era At Real
Earlier, the Spanish La Liga giants officially confirmed that Benzema is leaving the club this summer.
He has already played his last game for Madrid on Sunday against Athletic Club.
The match ended 1-1.
His exit follows those of Marco Asensio, Mariano and Eden Hazard, all of which were announced on Saturday.
“Next Tuesday, June 6, at 12:00 noon, an institutional act of homage and farewell to Karim Benzema will take place at Ciudad Real Madrid, with the presence of our president Florentino Perez,” the club said in a statement.
