Nigerian international, Victor Boniface, believes the current Super Eagles squad have the capacity and quality to win next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, come February 11, 2024.
Speaking with journalists from Africa after scoring for Bayer Leverkusen against Borussia Dortmund, Boniface said it is always a dream to play at the AFCON.
The in-form striker added that his major focus at the moment is to help his team in the German Bundesliga, who are currently the table toppers with 35 points.
His words: “We don’t know because the list is not out so we will wait till that very time. Of course, it’s the dream of every Nigerian football player to represent the country at the AFCON and winning it.
“I remember Sunday Mba scoring a goal. We won it at that time and celebrated it as well. So, we are looking forward to the next AFCON.
“Right now I’m not thinking of AFCON, but focusing on our next game on Thursday. After we are done with the league, we will focus on AFCON.
“Everyone in the team is important from the coaches to the players and goalkeepers. We are good enough to do anything in terms of football. We have quality players. So, we are ready.”
Also, Ivory Coast and Chelsea football legend, Didier Drogba has identified the Nigerian side as one of the favourites to win the next edition of AFCON.
Didier Drogba was one of the participants in the draw for the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON), which was conducted in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire’s capital in October.
