Former Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane has been linked to the Brazil national team job, weeks after Tite resigned following the country’s shock quarter-final exit from the recently concluded 2022 World Cup.
According to L’Equipe, Zizou ticks all the boxes of what Brazil are looking for at the moment.
First, Brazil wants a foreign coach with plenty of experience in Europe, that’s what attracted them to Carlos Ancelotti earlier.
But the Italian has stated that he’s happy at Real Madrid.
“For the moment, I’m great at Real Madrid, we have many objectives this season,” Ancelotti told ‘Radio Anch’io Sport’ recently.
“There will be time to think about my future. I have a contract until June 30, 2024 and, if Real Madrid don’t send me away before then, I’m not going to move.”
Zidane is among the most successful coaches in Europe after winning three consecutive Champions League titles.
However, he resigned from his job at Real Madrid last year due to differences with the club’s higher-ups.
The 50-year-old is also linked with taking over at PSG and the France national team, but the Brazil job seems more likely now given that they currently don’t have a coach.
However, Brazil are also believing that everything will depend on Didier Deschamps’ decision on his France national team future.
Should Deschamps resign, Zidane would be the main candidate to succeed him at Les Blues.
Marcelo Gallardo, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto Martinez and Rafa Benitez were also mentioned by L’Equipe as potential candidates.
