Anthony Joshua has lost his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk via unanimous decision.
Britain’s unified heavyweight champion was outboxed and dethroned by the Ukrainian, who put on a magnificent performance to make history.
Usyk’s speed, movement and accuracy troubled AJ all night long. Though, the Brit who suffered only his second career defeat, had moments of success throughout the fight, but could not maintain this for long enough to emerge victorious.
Usyk ultimately outclassed Joshua and had him out on his feet in the final round, with the bell saving AJ from being knocked out.
With the win, Usyk became just the third man to win world titles at cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions.
The win at the Tottenham Stadium was the 19th fight unbeaten for the Ukrainian Olympic medalist before 60,000 boxing fans.
“I lost to a better fighter tonight,” Joshua said.
“Joshua will want an immediate rematch” – Promoter, Eddie Hearn confirmed after the bout.
The Ukrainian was crowned as the new unified world heavyweight champion after all three judges scored the fight in favour of the skilful Ukrainian 117-112, 116-112, 115-113.
