Burnley on Friday returned to the English Premier League ahead of the 2023/24 football season.
The Championship club coached by former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, scaled the hurdle after beating Middlesbrough 2-1 to open a 19-point lead on top of the league table.
The former EPL side have so far scored the most goals with 76 points.
They have also conceded 30 goals, being the fewest out of any team in the Championship this year.
The wide point gap has ensured automatic promotion for the Clarets.
All eyes were on Kompany’s side after Luton, who are fourth in the league table, were unable to win at Millwall and were mathematically ruled out of a top two finish.
They had to seal a win over Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough side to book their ticket back to the English top-flight, which they did.
Kompany’s side have been frontrunners for the majority of the season and were expected to be one of the teams to finish in the top two at the end of the year with just two defeats throughout the Championship season.
