An ongoing CAF Confederation Cup match between Young Africans and Nigeria’s Rivers United has been halted after floodlights went off in Dar es Salam Tanzania on Sunday evening April 30, 2023.
The clash is the second leg tie in the quarter-final stage of the continental club competition.
The first leg ended 2-0 in favour of the Tanzania clubside when the match happened in Nigeria.
Score lines remained 0-0 at the time of power outage from the floodlights in Dar es Salam.
However, surprisingly, other parts of the stadium had lights.
The incident took place at about 30 minutes into the game.
The referee, Bedouane Jiyed later ordered the teams to go back to the dressing room.
Rivers United had suffered hard times before the matchday.
Their team bus was burgled and valuables worth thousands of dollars were stolen.
The Pride of Rivers while completing their final training session ahead of the clash against Young Africans of Tanzania noticed that their team bus has been broken into and sprayed with toxic chemicals and a sum of $5,250 missing, according to a press by the clubs media Officer Charles Mayuku.
Rivers United had petitioned CAF as they await further action from the football ruling body.
