The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Kenya as host of African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2024.
This was disclosed in an official statement by CAF.
“In addition to CAN 2027, Kenya has also been selected to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in September 2024,” CAF said.
Also, the Cabinet Office under the Executive Office of The Kenyan President has confirmed an approval for the country to host.
The cabinet meeting disclosed that Kenya had been chosen to host the continental championship in 2024, alongside two other footballing events.
These events include the CECAFA Under-18 Championship in November 2023 and the AFCON Under-15 (Pan-African Schools Football) CECAFA Region Championship in December 2023.
This announcement comes shortly after Kenya won the bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in collaboration with East African neighbors Uganda and Tanzania.
The continental soccer body was about to cancel the competition for next year after no country signify interest to stage the biennial tournament.
