Cameroon legend, Samuel Eto’o has successfully altered the constitution of the football governing body in his country, the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
The new constitution allows Eto’o who is the President of the Federation to stay in office for seven years instead of the four-year of single term tenure.
It also permits the President to seek office for three terms. If he seeks election in the three terms enshrined in the constitution and wins, he may likely spend 21 years in office as the helmsman of the country’s football governing body.
Eto’o who retired from international football as one of the legend of the game, ran for the top office of the football association amidst fanfare from the world football fans and officials all over the world.
Eto’o who played in Spain, England, Italy and other European countries is considered one of the most respected African players of all time,
He retired as one of the few players to win the gong of the African footballer of the year more than twice.
