According to Buckingham Palace, Queen Camilla, Her Majesty the Queen Consort, has cancelled all her scheduled visits with regret and sent her profound apologies to those expected to attend after contracting Covid for the second time.
The 75-year-old Queen Consort has contracted the virus twice; the first time was in February of last year, and this time it is worse, despite being fully vaccinated.
She regrettably cancelled all of her public appearances this week and extended her sincere apologies to anyone planning to attend.
Two events scheduled for Tuesday in the West Midlands were among the visits the Queen postponed.
She was scheduled to go to the library in Telford to express her gratitude to the staff and representatives of outreach and volunteer groups for their service to the community before attending the centennial celebration of the Elmhurst Ballet School in Edgbaston.
She was also scheduled to meet with officials of Read Easy, a volunteer organization that encourages adults to read.
The Queen recently praised the “life-changing” value of reading for kids during a visit to a literacy organization, demonstrating how important the cause is to her.
It is anticipated that a new date for the postponed activities can be found soon, according to a representative for Buckingham Palace.
Prior to this year, when she postponed a trip to the Cheltenham Festival while recuperating, the Queen Consort had to cancel engagements because of Covid.
She had been scheduled to attend the second day of the four-day competition and hand the winning owner the trophy, but she was reportedly dealing with a mild cough.
However, in 2019, she was forced to cancel a Remembrance Day engagement due to a worsening chest ailment.
