Premier League giants Manchester United on Sunday February 26, 2023, beat Newcastle United to win the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium.
United have enjoyed an improved season in their first term under manager Erik ten Hag.
At the moment, they’re third in the Premier League table and still in the Europa League draw.
The Dutchman is the first Manager at Old Trafford to win silverware since Jose Mourinho.
En route to winning the Cup, first half goals from Casemiro and an own goal from Sven Botman was all the Red Devils needed to edge Newcastle.
The victory is the first and major success of the Red devils under their new Manager, Erik Ten Hag who took over at the beginning of the season.
United had not won silverware since 2017 and the EFL title have now also ended their longest trophy drought in 40 years.
However, It was also a disappointing moment for Newcastle who lost to the opponent with the same scoreline in the 1999 FA Cup encounter.
Ten Hag in his first ever trip to Wembley stadium also joined Jose Mourinho as the only United managers to win a major trophy in their first season.
United last won a major trophy in their 2017 Europa League campaign.
They could still win three more trophies this season if they triumph in the EPL, Europa League and FA Cup.
