Social media went agog some few days ago when news surfaced that Grammy award-winning rapper Cardi B filed for divorce from fellow rapper husband Offset. Just days before submitting the divorce filing, Cardi B shared a cryptic post on social media which hinted that she was done wasting time. The post, that she shared with her 75.5 million Instagram followers, read:
“Her heart finally told her to stop wasting her time.”
In her caption, she wrote: “it’s time.” Following the news, there have been several speculations as to why Cardi decided to quit the marriage. Among the several rumours making the rounds is that Offset is set to welcome a baby with another woman. A new report by Page Six has it that an insider has firmly shut down the rumours that Offset fathered another child.
“There is no other child,” the source said.
“No baby is on the way. That rumor is super false. Cardi is thinking of her child and wants everything to be amicable. She’s evolved over the years and continues to.”
Prior to earlier reports that Cardi wants sole custody of their child Kulture, it has been learned that the court documents were amended because the “Bodak Yellow” rapper allegedly didn’t realize the original papers had named her as having primacy custody. According to celebrity gossip outlet, TMZ, Cardi B is in fact hoping to have an ‘amicable divorce’ and wants to ensure they share joint custody of their two-year-old. Page Six’s insider also pointed out that Cardi B is not looking for spousal or child support. The source added:
“She went back to have the petition amended because she wasn’t aware that it read ‘primary custody.’ She wants them both to have custody and to co-parent. She’s not requesting spousal support or child support. She wants everything to be super amicable.”
Cardi B and Offset’s three-year-old marriage has been a rocky one shortly after they tied the knot in 2017. The relationship has been trailed by allegations of cheating in the past. The couple split briefly in 2018 but Cardi gave the marriage another shot.
