Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has deleted a tweet in which he seemingly announced he was coming out as gay.
The former Spain goalkeeper said Sunday his Twitter account was hacked after a post saying he was gay created a stir on the social media platform.
Casillas said, “Luckily everything in order. Apologies to all my followers. And of course, more apologies to the LGBT community.”
The follow-up came not long after a brief message that was posted on his account went viral and prompted widespread speculation.
Iker Casilllas had social media in an uproar after posting a surprising message on his official Twitter profile.
“I hope you respect me: I’m gay. Happy Sunday,” he wrote earlier.
Casillas is considered a legend of Spanish football after being capped 167 for his country and making over 700 appearances for Real Madrid.
