The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the official match ball for the 2023 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).
At east 18 countries qualified for the competition scheduled to hold between January and February 2023.
Incidentally, Nigeria didn’t qualify.
The Black Galaxies of Ghana knocked out Nigeria’s Super Eagles B through penalty shoot-out in the final round of the qualifier earlier in 2022.
The official ball was launched on Saturday evening as participating teams intensify readiness for the biennial competition.
Meanwhile, the football crisis between Cameroon and Algeria reached a new height on Sunday ahead of the continental competition as Indomitable Lions threatened to pull out.
The crisis between the two nations commenced in March 2022 during the Qatar 2022 World Cup Playoffs in which Cameroon qualified at the expense of the Algerians.
The Algerian stakeholders and fans believed the Cameroonians manipulated the game through the match officials.
Algeria are scheduled to be the host of the 2023 edition of CHAN and according to an update from Cameroon, the Federation of Cameroon Football doesn’t seem to be satisfied with the level of security allocated to their team and thereby considering pulling out of the tournament.
