The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday unveiled Eric Sékou Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the media conference room of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Speaking at the event, Chelle, who is the 42nd manager of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, said his coaching philosophy, which focuses on attacking football, aligns with what the Super Eagles need to return to winning ways.
He said, “As I mentioned, coaching the Super Eagles has been my long-term desire… Football is about scoring goals, and that is what will happen with the Super Eagles.”
Chelle’s appointment was confirmed by the NFF last Tuesday.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau stated that Chelle would play a supervisory role for the home-based Super Eagles at the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Gusau also confirmed that the new coach has been given a two-year contract but remained silent on other details of his engagement, including his remuneration.
